The story
Ağrı Dağı, known abroad as Mount Ararat, is a dormant volcano rising to 5,137 metres in the far east of Türkiye, its snowy cone visible from Armenia and Iran. A smaller peak, Küçük Ağrı, stands beside it.
Tradition places Noah's ark on its slopes, and the mountain appears in the stories of several peoples of the region. Climbers approach it from Doğubayazıt.
