The story
Ayran is yoghurt whisked with cold water and a pinch of salt. It is drunk with grilled meat, with pide and with börek, and it is the everyday alternative to a fizzy drink across the country.
The town of Susurluk is famous for a frothy version poured from a great height. Ayran is also sold in cartons and cups at every corner shop.
