The story
The Bodrum mandarin is grown on the Bodrum peninsula, in places such as Bitez, Ortakent, Gündoğan, Gölköy, Yalıkavak and Turgutreis. It is valued for its own aroma and taste, and local producers also turn it into jam, ice cream, vinegar, syrup, lokum and cologne.
It is registered in Türkiye as "Bodrum Mandarini", designation of origin number 162, applied for on 3 December 2009 by the Bodrum Citrus Producers' Union and registered on 20 November 2012. The protection also covers products made from the fruit, such as jam and lokum.
