The story

Pine honey does not come from flowers. A tiny insect called the basra böceği lives on red pine and a few other pines, feeds on their sap and leaves a sugary secretion, which the bees collect and turn into honey.

It is darker than most flower honeys and keeps for years without setting hard. "Muğla Çam Balı" is a registered protected designation of origin in Türkiye, held by the Muğla beekeepers' union since 15 August 2018.
