The story
Çamlı is a neighbourhood of Marmaris on the eastern side of the Gökova gulf, about 20 km from Marmaris and 50 km from Muğla. The name means "with pines", and pine forest surrounds it, with the Gelibolu stream running through.
The village is best known as the way to Sedir island, with the ruins of ancient Kedrai and the beach called Cleopatra's. Visitors drive or take a dolmuş from Marmaris to the Kleopatra Plajı jetty at Çamlı and cross by boat.
Farming is the main living. The Marmaris Bal Evi lists Çamlı's crops as citrus, avocado, kiwi, loquat, olives, walnuts, peaches and strawberries, among others, and local papers mention its dairy and honey.
