The story
Ekinanbarı is a neighbourhood of Milas, 15 km from the town and 35 km from Bodrum. Records from 1914 give its name as Tekfuranbarı. Milas–Bodrum Airport is close by; its postal address is Havalimanı Sokak, Ekinanbarı.
For a long time this was the way to Bodrum. Nineteenth-century travellers wrote that they were afraid on the road to Tekfuranbarı at night, and in 1925 the writer Halikarnas Balıkçısı rode through the village on horseback on his way into exile in Bodrum, crossing the marshy Varvil plain, today's Yaşyer Ovası, beyond it. By 1956 a traveller noted that cotton was being sown on that plain and that ancient remains were said to lie in the village.
