The story
Galatasaray, founded in 1905 on the European side, and Fenerbahçe, founded in 1907 in Kadıköy on the Asian side, are the two biggest football clubs in Türkiye. Their matches, first played in 1909, divide families and offices.
The derby is nicknamed the intercontinental derby. Yellow-red and yellow-navy scarves, songs and rivalry fill the city for days before the game.
