The story
Göcek lies in a deep, sheltered gulf on the western edge of Fethiye, near the Dalaman border. Its islands and pine-backed coves make it a favourite start and finish for the Mavi Yolculuk, the blue voyage by gület.
The village has six marinas, and sailing regattas are held each year in the weeks of 19 May and 10 November. Because it lies inside a Specially Protected Area, buildings are kept low, with hotels and guesthouses of two storeys.
