The story
Kurban Bayramı comes about seventy days after Ramazan Bayramı and lasts four days. Families who can afford it sacrifice a sheep or share in a cow and give a large part of the meat to neighbours and the poor.
It is the year's great homecoming: roads and airports fill as people travel to their home towns, and the days pass in visits, long meals and phone calls to relatives far away.
