The story
The Lycian Way follows old paths across the Teke peninsula, the land of ancient Lycia, past rock tombs, ruined cities and coves. It was devised by Kate Clow, a British amateur historian living in Türkiye, and opened in 1999 as the country's first long-distance walking route, waymarked by volunteers.
It starts at Hisarönü near Fethiye and ends at Geyikbayırı near Antalya. The route is marked with red and white stripes, and walkers usually choose spring or autumn to avoid the summer heat.
