The story
Barlar Sokağı, Bar Street, is the centre of Marmaris nightlife. It is a narrow street lined with dozens of bars, discos, cafés and live-music venues, and in summer thousands of Turkish and foreign visitors come here after dark.
The night starts around 22.00 every day of the week in season, and clubs usually stay open until about 05.00, with DJs, dance shows, laser shows and foam parties. Entry to many places is free, but drinks are not cheap. When its venues opened the season with parties in May 2012, a news report counted 112 bars and discos on the street.
