The story
Mavi Yolculuk, the Blue Voyage, began in the 1950s as boat trips taken by Cevat Şakir Kabaağaçlı, the Fisherman of Halicarnassus, and friends such as Azra Erhat and Sabahattin Eyüboğlu along the coast near Bodrum. The name comes from Azra Erhat's book Mavi Yolculuk, first published in 1957.
Today it is a holiday of several nights aboard a chartered gulet, a broad-sterned wooden boat, stopping at quiet coves, beaches and ancient ruins. Departures leave from harbours such as Bodrum, Gökova, Datça, Marmaris, Göcek and Fethiye.
