The story
The Great Offensive of August 1922 ended on 30 August at Dumlupınar, the battle that decided the War of Independence. Within two weeks the army reached İzmir.
Zafer Bayramı is a public holiday with military parades, wreaths and flags across the country, and the Turkish Armed Forces mark it as their day.
