The story
Basat confronts Tepegöz in the shared Oghuz storytelling tradition. The tale belongs to a heritage shared across countries, rather than to one modern nation alone.
In the story the giant is raised among the Oghuz before he turns on them, and it is the hero Basat who finally outwits him by blinding his single eye. Readers often compare the tale with the Greek Cyclops.
