The story
Torba is a neighbourhood of Bodrum about 6 km northeast of the town. Olive groves and pine forest cover its hillsides, and it has kept a more rural feel than other parts of Bodrum, even with its hotels and holiday villages.
Cafés and open-air restaurants along the shore serve the day's catch, lamb kebabs and meze, and many people come from Bodrum for a swim or a dinner on the beach. Sea bass and gilt-head bream live in the bay, and sea turtles, dolphins and the rare Mediterranean monk seal also live in these waters.
Just along the coast, Usuluk Bay was long a free picnic spot for Bodrum people and became a nature park in 2011. Bodrum's new intercity bus station opened in Torba in 2021.
