The story

Turkish coffee is ground to a powder, simmered slowly with water and sugar in a small long-handled pot called a cezve, and poured unfiltered into a tiny cup. It comes with a glass of water and often a piece of lokum.

The cup is more than a drink: a fortune may be read in the grounds, and a bride traditionally serves coffee to the groom's family. UNESCO added Turkish coffee culture to its Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2013.
